Capital Bank of Jordan
The Challenge
The MENA region has experienced a period of unprecedented digitization over the past 2 years, sparked by a renewed focus on providing digital access and user-centric services to attract and retain customers in the face of the rising tide of Fintechs, challenger, and neobanks. With a population of over 10 million and just over 8 million active mobile connections, Jordan is a market ripe and hungry for digital services. Furthermore, with only 27% of females and 53% of males having access to a bank account, there is a strong need for digital financial services in the country.
Recognizing this immense market opportunity and aligned with its tradition of innovation, the Capital Bank of Jordan decided to replace their existing mobile banking app and Codebase was selected to help the Bank on this journey. This would be the second time that Codebase and the Capital Bank of Jordan would partner for a digital banking project. The Bank’s vision was to create a cutting-edge app for retail customers, available on mobile and tablet, to leverage Jordan’s high internet penetration and address the country’s low financial inclusion.
The Solution
In designing the user experience, both parties knew that a fundamental shift in how customers engage with their mobile banking app was a must to create true disruption. Based on research and feedback, Codebase designed the first of its kind for a mobile banking app in MENA, a widget-based user interface. Inspired by smartphone operating systems, the team personalized each widget based on products and services to show customers a streamlined view of the key information they needed at any given time. The mobile app dashboard was customized based on product types to allow for simple navigation and highly intuitive usage. This allowed for presenting lengthy product information in a much more customer-friendly manner, ensuring the user experience was unforgettable.
Codebase and the Capital Bank of Jordan worked to revolutionize Capital Bank of Jordan’s mobile app, looking to re-invent the way customers engage with their banking apps. From customer journey design, to personalization and features planning to development, both teams collaborated closely to leverage the Bank’s intimate knowledge of the Jordanian banking industry, market, and customers with Codebase’s superior software and technology expertise.
Impact
Using Codebase’s flexible Digibanc fintech components allowed features to be developed and integrated with the Bank’s existing core banking system and IT infrastructure for seamless deployment and ensuring a rapid time to market and effective cost optimization for the Bank. The flexible nature of the Digibanc platform enabled the Capital Bank of Jordan with a future-proof platform that can be used to create and launch new services in the future, refine existing ones, and seamlessly collaborate with partners and Fintechs through APIs.
